What ServiceLow is

ServiceLow is a place where people in Jamaica looking for work done can find independent businesses who do it, and agree a price between themselves.

We are not the one doing the work. Every business on here is independent — not our staff, not our contractor, not our agent. The agreement for a job is between the customer and that business. ServiceLow is not a party to it.

Money

ServiceLow does not handle payment for jobs. You pay the business directly, however the two of you agree. We take no cut, hold no money, and offer no payment protection or escrow. An invoice generated here is a document recording what was agreed — it is not a payment, and we are not collecting on anyone's behalf.

Businesses pay a subscription to list on ServiceLow. That is between the business and us, and has nothing to do with the price of any job.

What we check, and what we don't

This part matters, so it is written plainly rather than buried.

• We do not vet, licence, insure, background-check or inspect the businesses listed here.
• Details on a business's page — years in business, licence numbers, qualifications — are entered by that business. We do not verify them.
• There are no "verified" badges on ServiceLow, deliberately, because we cannot stand behind such a claim.

Satisfying yourself that someone is competent, licensed and insured for what you are hiring them to do is your responsibility. For work where it matters — electrical, gas, building, anything involving children or vulnerable people — ask to see their papers.

If you're a customer

• Be truthful in what you ask for, and don't waste people's time.
• Turn up, or say you can't.
• Reviews must be about a job that actually happened, and honest. The site only lets you review a job marked completed.

If you list a business

• Everything on your page must be true — your name, your trade, your experience, any licence you claim.
• Hold the licences and insurance your trade requires by law.
• Honour the prices you quote, or explain before starting why it changed.
• Do not post someone else's photos as your work.
• Customer details you get through ServiceLow are for doing that job — not for adding people to a marketing list.

Things nobody may do here

• Pretend to be someone else, or list a business you don't run.
• Post anything illegal, abusive, or discriminatory.
• Write or solicit fake reviews.
• Try to get at other people's information, or at parts of the site that aren't yours.

Suspension

We can suspend an account that breaks these terms. A suspended account cannot sign in and its public page stops working. If you think it was a mistake, get in touch — a person reads it.

Where we stand if something goes wrong

If a job goes badly, that is between you and the business you hired, and you have whatever rights the law gives you against them. ServiceLow introduced you; it did not do the work and cannot put it right.

We try to keep the site up and correct, but we don't promise it is never down or never wrong. Nothing here takes away rights you have under Jamaican consumer law.

Changes

If these change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we'll say so on the site.
